Powwow Artist Book

I made this artist book as one of my final projects for a photography class at Oregon State University, incorporating skills I learned in a graphic design packaging class I was also taking. The form of the book references the shawls worn by fancy shawl dancers at a powwow, both in shape and fringing. The photos were taken digitally at the Gathering of Oregon’s First Nations Powwow 2011, and hand-printed using the Van Dyke process.
