First American Art Magazine requested that I illustrate a macaw for the logo of We Have Words For Art: A Symposium on Writing about Art by Indigenous Peoples of the Americas. The macaw embodies the ability to speak in all languages and its speak glyph was inspired by Anishinaabe birchbark etchings.
